The Long-term Evolution of Main-sequence Binaries in DRAGON Simulations

چکیده

Abstract We present a comprehensive investigation of main-sequence binaries in the DRAGON simulations, which are first one-million-particle direct N -body simulations globular clusters. analyze orbital parameters binary samples two D1-R7-IMF93 and D2-R7-IMF01, focusing on their secular evolution correlations up to 12 Gyr. These models have different initial stellar mass functions: Kroupa 1993 (D1-R7-IMF93) 2001 (D2-R7-IMF01); mass-ratio distributions: random paring power law (D1-R7-IMF93). In general, ratio population increases over time due evolution, is less significant D2-R7-IMF01. D1-R7-IMF93, primordial with q ≈ 0.2 most common, frequency linearly declines increasing at all times. Dynamical both higher eccentricities larger semimajor axes than binaries. They preferentially located inner part star cluster. Secular does not depend distribution, but sensitive distribution system. At t = Gyr, fraction decreases radially outwards, segregation present. A color difference 0.1 mag F330W − F814W NUV y between core outskirts clusters seen, reflection radial The complete set data for dynamical systems snapshot intervals made publicly available.

The Evolution of Long-term Care Programs; Comment on “Financing Long-term Care: Lessons From Japan”

The need for long-term care (LTC) represents a “new social risk,” one that overlaps with and complements systems of care that pre-date such programs, complicating LTC program design. This commentary expands on Ikegami’s discussion of how these structural factors must be accommodated, as well as historical and cultural factors that influence public expectations of such a...

Detached white dwarf main-sequence star binaries

We initiated a comprehensive state of the art binary population synthesis study of white dwarf main-sequence star (WDMS) binaries to serve as a foundation for subsequent studies on pre-cataclysmic variables, double white dwarfs, and white dwarf + B-star binaries. We considered seven distinct formation channels subdivided into three main groups according to the evolutionary process that gives ri...

Pre - main sequence binaries with aligned disks ?

We present the results of a study performed with the goal to investigate whether low-mass pre-main sequence binary stars are formed by multiple fragmentation or via stellar capture. If binaries form preferentially by fragmentation, we expect their disks to be co-planar. On the other hand, the capture scenario will lead to a random distribution of disk orientations. We performed near-infrared po...

Long Term Evolution of Massive Black Hole Binaries

The long-term evolution of massive black hole binaries at the centers of galaxies is studied in a variety of physical regimes, with the aim of resolving the “final parsec problem,” i.e. how black hole binaries manage to shrink to separations at which emission of gravity waves becomes efficient. A binary ejects stars by the gravitational slingshot and carves out a loss cone in the host galaxy. C...
